(without trashing your Level Goals) September 16, 2019 Reply Pedro P Tomorrow I’ll get my first bass amp. Super exited! October 5, 2019 Reply Kateire This is incredible and something I've been wanting to address. I've been taking lessons for about three months and have been concerned about my finger technique. I'm also concerned that my practice bass is a short scale. I have two full scale basses but frankly I love the short scale I'm playing. I know I have to graduate to the full scale at some point and finger technique on the full scale has me a bit scared at this point. And right now I want to KILL my pinkie. Thanks, Josh! October 5, 2019 Reply Mark Lawrence 3 dislikes came from 6-string bass players. October 5, 2019 Reply just another fish in bikini bottom lel i don't even know why i'm here. i'm a guitarist, not a bassist but i still watch ur vids. they have goid content tho October 6, 2019 Reply iqi616 Excellent lesson. I've been playing bass since before you were born and sadly have not come across this set of exercises. Excessive fretting pressure has been a persistent problem for me and it looks like this set of exercises will help fix that. October 6, 2019 Reply Maren Denison 2:12 sunshine of your love… 😢 R.I.P. ginger baker October 6, 2019 Reply Oside3000 Thanks for the vid! My honest assessment…I’m crushing it at level 5 IF I don’t use the technique of keeping the fingers on the frets. With a little work I was able to play all levels with much room for improvement. I really like your teaching style so please keep uploading! October 7, 2019 Reply Borislav Mihailov A lot of good stuff on this channel, thanks for the lessons. October 7, 2019 Reply Soumya Kanti Bhattacharyya This channel is super underrated. Very good lesson!!! Keep it up ! Can you do a similar video for the plucking hand? October 11, 2019 Reply Chris Chrossy Funfact: you look a bit like Mats Hummels or/and Ashton Kutcher …. October 14, 2019 Reply Michal Puzder As you can see , these creatures called bass players are trying to use their second braincell to play a note October 15, 2019 Reply DC AC On your program(bass buzz) do you show tabs or theach how to read them October 16, 2019 Reply Николай Пронин Left-handed person use right-handed bass October 16, 2019 Reply Optomod Josh you have made learnin gthe bass easy and fun with your "go at your own pace" course…top notch mate. October 28, 2019 Reply Chuck Guy I just started bass about 2 weeks ago. Thank you so much for all your videos. I am still having trouble plucking and find using a pick easier (I am a drummer so maybe I am just used to wrist movements more than finger movements). Your videos are the best!! October 30, 2019 Reply Rookie Ace You're the guy who got me interested in bass Josh. Thanks man! 👊😃 And gotta say, your Beginner to Badass course is phenomenal. 100% would recommend! Thanks for the lessons! November 6, 2019 Reply random ** Why doesn't this channel have more subs??!! November 9, 2019 Reply Captain Chunk Hi Josh. Really enjoying your well paced, informative videos. I've been playing tabs, basically for a year, since starting. I'm ok but I'm seeing I'm lacking in a few techniques. So here I am. Question: In your opinion should I not try to play songs, at this stage? Am I going to end up picking up bad habbits by getting ahead of myself? November 12, 2019 Reply Space Mongrel you sir, are adorable. <3 November 13, 2019 Reply Mel Torres Chromatic scale with variation November 13, 2019 Reply Valentine Eyum Sama Luv the JK tshirt 👍🏼 November 17, 2019 Reply Tasman Chapman no i will leave my 88 tabs open thankyou. good video tho. November 18, 2019 Reply Stewart Stewart hey I notice your left hand playing a right handed bass,Im left handed and play right hand bass,I find it hard to get my syncopation down November 19, 2019 Reply beliz erdem you are so sweet <3<3<3 November 20, 2019 Reply lulu wilson Can we access those drum tracks?! Great lesson. Thank youuu November 21, 2019 Reply Nelson Arblaster I’ve been playing bass (my first and only instrument) 25 years. I started gigging before I knew what the notes even were. Playing in heavy bands conditioned me to use a death grip. Doing the first few practice drills was a problem for me until the “light finger grip” drill. All of a sudden it became easy to limit flying fingers and all the other drills. I’ll keep at it. The problem is, even when I practice the right way, when I get on stage, it’s back to old bad habits. Thanks though! November 22, 2019 Reply Nelson Arblaster How fast can one get if they do not hold all their fingers down first when descending a line? My fingers are in the right location and close to the string but not already on it. My brain does not want to cooperate. It’s been conditioned to pluck only when a finger presses down. I’ll keep working but it’s pathetic in comparison. November 23, 2019 Reply B B My brain heard “drum lubes”. November 24, 2019 Reply unhando 0:14 literally me but I can't keep my bloody pinkie down November 26, 2019 Reply Miguel Santos Thank you for the lesson Josh, I can't wait to get my first Bass, by the way, can you please give me your opinion about the Yamaha TRBX174? One more thing, I already have the Alesis GuitarLink Plus USB Audio Cable, does it work well with Audacity? Take care. 🙂 November 28, 2019 Reply Coral Altamirano Muchas gracias, señor! Estudiando sola en casa no es aburrido con tus videotutoriales (: November 29, 2019 Reply Beershake Thanks man!I'm going on a 5 week program (1 level per week), 1 hour a day of stright practice on this.I've noticed that my notes do not sound as "saperated" as yours, even tho I'm going pretty slow. It's almost as if I get a hammer on but not that pleasant of a sound, it makes me concerned. November 29, 2019 Reply jigilly55 Great lesson….but i was distracted by what seems to be a "Banana" tattoo!…..it is a Banana right???? (whats it mean??) December 1, 2019 Reply powerpc127 Levels 1-3 I was just noodling at twice your tempo after playing it in time once or twice. After level 3 I was about to watch something else, but level 4 actually caught me off guard. Level 5 was also a total mindfuck. I'm suddenly very aware of what I do after lifting my finger off a note and whether or not I'm gripping too tightly. Awesome vid, thanks dude! December 3, 2019 Reply Randy Strauss If you are picking up the bass for the first time, or if you're noodling around with a garage band, or even if you've been playing for a while with tabs and you're just not advancing the way you want, Beginner to Badass is the course for you. Clean up your technique, learn new ways of getting into a groove (something I can't stress enough), learning new grooves, and pick up some theory. As an added bonus, you can close your eyes and imagine you're taking bass lessons from Ashton Kutcher when you hear Josh's voice. December 5, 2019 Reply Skord 176 I clicked because of Scott Pilgrim. December 7, 2019 Reply soulfulll Subscribed. Wish you were around when I was learning. Davie 504 inspired me to get a new bass after my last one was stolen a few years ago. Now you’re going to teach me how be bad ass. December 7, 2019 Reply Naughty Monkey I've had to invent a new metric: Beats per Hour. Cos I'm unco December 7, 2019 Reply Naughty Monkey Turned 40, bought a bass. my fingers are bleeding. It's been 2 days. You make the learning fun. December 10, 2019 Reply E. ABC Inquiring minds must know… what is the tattoo that you have on your forearm? I think it’s a feather or a whale and my daughter swears it’s a banana🤣🤷🏼♀️🤔 December 12, 2019 Reply Joseph Nguyen scott pilgrim as the thumbnail thats dopee December 14, 2019 Reply ladyluckdrums Great videos! I just bought a bass and I'm looking for guidance. After playing drums for 30+ years, it's time for something new. Nice Vegan ambigram tattoo as well! December 15, 2019 Reply lana s i just dont have the natural long bass fingers that everyone has but hopefully these exercises will help me over come that 😭 December 17, 2019 Reply Jeremy Hervieux Practicing with a drum loop is freaking genius. Like you said before it makes it feel more like "music." I practice with a metronome all the time but with a drum beat it feels a whole lot less like work and more like jamming (in a sense.) December 18, 2019 Reply Lance Rich “This doesn’t do me any good cuz there’s no bass over here.” That’s deep… 😂Just picked up an acoustic bass at age 49 and I find your videos entertaining, helpful and they give me hope that I’ll eventually be able to be a competent bass player. December 20, 2019 Reply Krah Liu this channel is so helpful for beginners like me, you deserve more subscribers bro 😀 December 21, 2019 Reply Faker 2 yrs ago, in 6th grade, my group mate using Google sheets made a graph go backwards somehow December 22, 2019 Reply Umaro Candjalo Thank you very much!!! December 22, 2019 Reply Alien Female From Europa Jupiter I'ma girl with smaller hands than men so it's harder to play bass 🙁 December 23, 2019 Reply John Michael Bascon I just got my bass 2 days ago, and I literally don’t know how to start. I tried some basic riffs to help me get used to it and feel the instrument, but I always feel like something is wrong when I play it. Now I know what I need to do, thank you for the great video! December 24, 2019 Reply Ibn Czar Sarmiento Just got my bass bout a 4 days ago, it's an Epiphone Toby Standard IV, is this a good enough bass to practice with? Also i still need an amp, im saving for a good one. Is it fine for me to do these excercises without the amp yet?🤔 December 25, 2019 Reply Konstantinos Manolakos Eh… I've been playing bass for 14 years now i think. So about 5-6 years in i noticed my playing was at a level i wasn't improving anymore. I had to revisit those exercises . Took me about two years to completely fix my technique but after it was done my playing was completely different. And keep in mind I had already spent a huge amount of time on doing this but i tried(and succeded huehue) to play stuff beyond my lvl and even those i did learn them it ruined my playing style. My advice to new bass players is to spend as much time as possible on this stuff. I know it's boring but you'll get to a good level much faster this way cause after you've mastered them your fingers won't be holding you back. December 25, 2019 Reply general grievous Four arms here nerds so get on my damn level December 26, 2019 Reply Cole Johnstone First day just bought my bass about an hour ago and I’m already “crushing it” by your standards haha thanks for the video December 26, 2019 Reply kylitosan Level 4, the Thelonious Monk level December 30, 2019 Reply Dalton Fitzgerald …I've never seen anybody play either bass or guitar right on the frets like that. 😕 January 2, 2020 Reply Ed Taboada BassBuzz, you have a great teaching style and your lessons are truly amazing. You may actually get me to practice. Nicely done! January 2, 2020 Reply Daisy Rothschild 10:38 You are not the boss of me! (Pinky tyranny haha – cramp> ow!) January 2, 2020 Reply Peter Andersen To improve your speed I'd recommend almost any song on Kill 'Em All or just the song Fight Fire with Fire alone. If you get to a point where you can play them with 2 fingers alternating, you won't have speed problems for a long time 😀 January 2, 2020 Reply brandon drews I love your channel. I bought a bass a week ago and I’ve been going through your videos on a daily basis. I’m hooked on this instrument. All my friends think I’m a really fast learner when In reality I just have a DOPE online resource. I haven’t found any other channels that compare. Thanks Bass Buzz, your content is LEGIT, and your saving me ALOT of money on lessons.
