Health Insurance Coverage


The percentage of people without health insurance
coverage decreased from 9.1 percent in 2015 to 8.8 percent in 2016, or from 29 million to 28.1
million people in 2016. By age, between 2015 and 2016, the percentage
of people without health insurance coverage declined for most under age 65, with generally
larger decreases for working age adults. By race, non-Hispanic whites had the lowest
uninsured rate among race and Hispanic origin groups at 6.3 percent. Hispanics had the highest uninsured rate at
16 percent.
