Proper Technique for Biceps Curl Workouts on a Bowflex Home Gym

Hi, Tim Ardnt here, Bowflex Personal Trainer and we’re here to demonstrate a proper biceps curl on the Bowflex Xtreme
2 SE. To setup the machine you can see we’ve gotten rid of the seat and we also got the
handles down here at the bottom pulleys. So go ahead Neil. Neil’s going to demonstrate this
exercise. One thing I want to point out here is we haven’t moved this pulley. I’m going to show you why. Neil go ahead and do the exercise. As you can see, he
might bottom out on this especially if you’re taller. Show them how high you can take it. That’s as far as it can go. Ok. So one adjustment you can make if
you’re running into that problem is go ahead an set this down, actually move
this pulley back one position there. Ok? That’s
going to give you a greater range of motion. So as he sets this up, he’s pointed his
palms out and his elbows pointed out too. From the side view you can see that Neil is standing tall. The only thing that’s moving is his elbow joint. He doesn’t let it move back and forth. One thing you want to watch out for is
letting this cable pass your elbows. (Show them how it’s done.) Don’t let this get on the other side of
that – you always want to keep it in front of it. The other thing is, a lot of people
actually move their elbows back as they do this and then swing it forward. So as he does this, his elbow stays in the same spot the
whole time. Really isolates the biceps there. Another thing you can do to add
variation is alternate it, one at a time. And you can even alternate it like this,
where they both move – like that. So there’s some different variations, and that’s how you perform a proper biceps
curl on the Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE.
